Kelly DuMaresq - May Speaker
Kelly DuMaresq told us her story of how scrappy quilts have become her passion. Her trunk show was filled with gorgeous quilts all made from her scrap collection. She also gave us hints on ways to utilize and store our scrap material.
The hints I liked were:
- Cut your scraps into 1 1/2", 2", 2 1/2", or 3 1/2" strips or squares
- Keep all extra 1/2 triangles
- Check out www.quiltville.com for Bonnie Hunter info, free patterns, etc
- Use squares as leaders and enders. This way you can sew your squares together as you work on other projects.
Kelly's presentation was so inspiring....especially for someone who loves scrappy quilts!

Block of the Month Club - April
Chrissy Altelaar and Donna Starr conducted another enjoyable Block of the Month workshop. This month was also a special birthday for Donna Starr so cupcakes by Chrissy for everyone. I am not telling which birthday it was ... but I was dancing at Teen Town to Surfin' U.S.A. by the Beach Boys the year she was born! Yikes Donna you are just a kid!!
And according to Chrissy there was no gold star for our president Ms MacD. She put her blocks together the wrong way and the sneaky girl sat there quietly doing a little reverse sewing until Chrissy caught her in the act! You have to watch out for the quiet ones.
Thanks for the pictures Chrissy.
The Block of the Month workshop is on May 22.
